The average woman has worn just 20% of her wardrobe in the last year, yet continues to spend upwards of $6,000 year on new clothing and accessories, leaving many with a closet full of “nothing to wear”.

Every year once the weather begins to warm up, I find it’s never officially spring until I finish de-winterizing my closet. It only takes a few minutes before I find myself knee deep in piles of clothes and accessories. Usually I like to start fresh by getting rid of my pre-used - but still fashionable - items and work on purchasing a whole new wardrobe of new spring fashions. 

However, the way my budget is looking this year, I’d be lucky to afford a new pair of flip-flops from the Gap! Therefore this year I’ve decided to go the “recommerce” route and explore my options in selling my clothes online.

So, after a couple google searches, I quickly discovered more opportunities than I had ever thought possible. I have to say it was rather overwhelming at first. To make the decision process easier I’ve gathered together the top sites where you can resale your clothes online.

Many of the sites I’ve found have developed a unique process that makes listing and and selling your items online a snap!

Twice

Copious

ABOUT - Copious is an online marketplace with a social media presence.The site gives users a platform to buy and sell secondhand items, but requires each person to sign into the site through his or her Facebook account, eliminating the possibility of doing business with an anonymous person as is sometimes the case on Craigslist.

Additionally, Copious allows users to sync their account with contacts from their Google, AOL or Yahoo email, so you can build up a vast marketplace of friends and acquaintances.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW - ​To list, you just pay a 3.5% transaction fee. You can sell just about anything that falls under the clothing/accessories/jewelry categories.

Bib + Tuck

ABOUT - Bib + Tuck is a members-only online community for women to trade fashion items. They bring together the hippest people so that each can find the "new" in another's "old".  You can sell (“Bib”) and buy (“Tuck”), but the catch here is that you’re not really selling 
or buying—you’re swapping!

List items you're ready to part with and upload cool, styled photos of your garments. Decide what they’re worth and assign a virtual price in bucks (B+T currency). Receive bucks (B+T currency) when another member purchases one of your items. When someone purchases your item, you will receive an email with a prepaid mailing label. Put the item in a USPS box, stick on the label, and mail it. Use your bucks to shop other closets.

Storenvy

ABOUT - Storenvy is a social marketplace for indie shoppers and sellers. On one side, Storenvy is a series of online stores run by independent sellers. “The little guys.” Stores are fully customizable, with a feature-rich store admin panel, and completely FREE.

ABOUT - Founded by editor, writer, fashion addict (and former professional, boxer) Kate Sekules, Refashioner is where like-minded fashion fiends can get together and buy, sell and swap, not just great unloved garments, shoes and accessories, but their stories too.

Buying is as easy as on any e-tail site. The one difference is you'll become a ReFashioner member on checkout. It's free, and there's no pressure to do anything more than shop. Or swap! This ia a mobile resale fashion marketplace app designed to appeal to the Instagram generation, and is also similiar to pinterest. 

Have items in your closet that you love, but just don’t wear anymore? List it for sale on Poshmark in less than 60 seconds. Sell what you have in your closet so you can shop for what you really love today. Sellers can create free listings by snapping pictures from their iPhones of items they want to sell, and making them pop with unique filters. Sellers list items they want to post themselves, and select a preferred shipping method. When your item is bought, you’ll get an email notification. Also interesting: You can upload not-for-sale stylish items you own to get general fashion props and gain followers from the site’s global community who dig your style.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW - ​Once an item sells, Material Wrld charges a 15% transaction fee. Also, if you’re interested in buying not selling, the items you snag will automatically be saved to your profile in case you ever want to re-list them for sale.

Tradesy
